2008 Presidential Elections

Who will serve as our 44th President of the United States? These are exciting times for our country. Never before in our history have so many sectors of our population been engaged in the election process for presidential candidates. Young Americans are following the caucuses and debates of candidates. Persons from all walks of life are interested in what the Democratic and Republican candidates have to say on issues effecting their lives as well as their families.

The Democractic Primaries for the state of North Carolina are fast approaching. Tuesday, May 6, students in Wake County will have an opportunity to cast their vote. The remaining Democratic contests following North Carolina are Indiana, Oregon, Kentucky, West Virginia, Montana, South Dakota and Puerto Rico, and caucuses in Guam.

Take time to learn about the candidates' respective stance on top line issues such as the War in Iraq, minimum wage, health care reform as well as immigration and securing our country's borders. Discuss your ideas with your fellow students, teachers, and parents. You may be surprised to hear someone else's perspective and how their views may cause you to reconsider your position on a given topic.
